In the late 1950's, Carrollwood, Florida was developed by the owner of Sunstate Builders, Matt Jetton.  Jetton purchased over 325 acres of citrus groves north of Tampa with the intent of building houses to give relief to the overcrowding of South Tampa.  Located next to the newly built University of South Florida, Carrollwood became the home to many professors and administrators of the college.  This area had all the amenities of luxury living; air conditioning, lake access and even a handy man and repair service.  The winding roads and prestigious lake views gave an added charm to the area. In 1966, a tornado came tearing through Carrollwood, leaving a wide path of destruction in its wake. Roofs were torn off houses, fences were twisted and many properties were damaged. According to newspaper articles from the popular newspaper of the time, The Carrollwood Caroler, the storm only took five minutes to wreak the havoc that Carrollwood had endured.  It was the community spirit that brought Carrollwood back from this community disaster. It is this community spirit that still lives on today.

Today, Carrollwood, Florida is the home to over 33,000 residents. With its mature trees, lakeside views and streets lined with walkways, this unincorporated community is growing at a rapid pace.  Located only 15 miles from Tampa, Carrollwood provides the close knit community feel with all the amenities that only a larger city can provide only minutes away!  Busch Gardens, located around the corner from Carrollwood, includes an amazing blend of thrill rides, live shows, shops, restaurants and a zoo with more than 2,700 animals!  Adventure Island, right next door to Busch Gardens, promises 30 acres of high speed water rides, a wave pool, restaurants and a kiddie water playground.  The entertainment in this area is never ending!
