- Brandon, Florida, Hillsborough County
Brandon, Florida was once known as New Hope. Its history changed in 1857 when John Brandon and his family relocated to Florida from Mississippi. A year later, Brandon bought 40 acres of land in the area. Nine years after their arrival, Brandon's wife passed over and Brandon left everything to his son and moved to Bartow. Over the years, Brandon re-married and moved back to New Hope in 1874. He purchased 160 acres of land upon his arrival and named his land Brandon. After John Brandon died, his wife, Victoria, took over the leading role in this community. When the railroad began to come through the area, Victoria convinced the engineer to survey out the area and map out a town. The engineer surveyed out 40 acres and Victoria named the town after her husband, Brandon.
Today Brandon, Florida is the home to just below 78,000 residents, according to the 2000 census. Brandon Balloon Classic is held annually every April. This festival features over 50 hot air balloons, food, entertainment and amusement rides.
With the growth that this community has experienced, Brandon has attracted many real estate investors. Single Family homes, subdivisions, condominiums and town houses are just a few of the options provided in this charming community. Being away from the bustling city life but still close enough to enjoy all the amenities is what makes Brandon’s real estate very desirable.
